From AAWAwiki
Welcome to the wiki homepage of the USF Academic Affairs Web Alliance (AAWA). The AAWA is a group of webmasters within the Office of Academic Affairs at the University of South Florida. The group was created as a partnership between departments to foster group discussion on a wide range of web and technology-related issues.
The collaborative nature of the AAWA is very well suited for a wiki. Although wikis have been in existence for a number of years, they are quite different from the traditional website. One main difference exists in the open nature of a wiki. This website is configured to allow anyone the opportunity to add, remove, edit, create, or delete pages within the wiki. Accordingly, registration is not required (although it is encouraged). To create an account, use this link or click the link in the upper right-hand corner of the page titled "create an account or log in."
To edit a page, all you need to do is click the "edit" tab at the top of the page. After making the appropriate updates, preview your changes and then click "Save page." If you'd like to create a new topic within the wiki, first create a wikilink (or internal link) to the new page within an existing topic. The link will then be displayed as a red link (rather than blue) to indicate the article has not yet been created. Next click the red link to be taken to an auto-generated page for the as-yet uncreated topic. Save your changes after making the appropriate updates and a new page will be created for the new topic.
For those who are unfamiliar with contributing to a wiki the markup can sometimes be a little confusing. For an overview of the wiki editing process, please see the Editing Help page on the WikiMedia website for further information. Of particular interest are the following pages:
There is also an area designed for testing your wiki markup in a "sandbox" within the Wikipedia website. Feel free to play in the sandbox without fear of hurting any of the pages within the wiki. Additionally, you can always click the "edit" link at the top of the page to view its source.
The above references should get you started. For assistance with the wiki, please send me an e-mail at tthompson@acad.usf.edu or give me a ring at 4-1630.
