[edit] Topics

[edit] Meeting Introduction

This is the first combined meeting of the Academic Affairs Webmaster Alliance and the College Webmaster Workgroup. Because the administrative departments and the colleges work so closely together on web-related content, the groups have decided to merge and function as a single unit.

[edit] Purpose of the group

[edit] Expand communication among units

The web centers on communication of complex ideas and developing relationships between previously unrelated pieces of information. This group will function similarly, allowing webmasters to connect a face with an email address and cultivate a more personal working environment.

[edit] Improve the USF website

Our collection of websites is good now, but with effort can be great. Collaboration within the group can potentially ease the difficulties of a large project. Since areas of responsibility are not always clearly defined, significant overlap exists between the efforts of units. A few examples:

  • Catalogs. Requires coordination between all colleges and UG Studies/Graduate School.
  • Course information and schedule search. Times, availability, pre-reqs are complex and span multiple units. Will likely require assistance from outside units (IT, etc).

[edit] Function as a comprehensive webmaster resource

Develop online and offline tools to:

  • Assist units within the group on an ad hoc basis.
  • Circulate best practices, tips/tricks, suggestions.
  • Coordinate efforts where possible.

[edit] Administrative meeting information

Our in-person meetings will run with an open format; feel free to contribute at any time. In an attempt to keep each meeting length under its scheduled hour, some topics may need to be tabled or discussed by interested parties after closing.

[edit] Topics for future meetings

Attendees proposed a number of topics for discussion at future meetings:

  • Jason Hair
    • how to properly link within a webpage
    • page not found (404 errors)
  • Maria Paul
